The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second consecutive year.

The twenty-seven-year-old secured four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – including successfully defending the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles championship.

A Season of High Performance

Throughout the year, Sabalenka reached a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The star player also triumphed at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the entire year as the world number one, concluding 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.

This past summer, she became the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.

Historic Achievements

Sabalenka concluded the season with a sixty-three to twelve match record, and earned a historic £11m in prize money.

She garnered almost eighty percent of the votes cast by international tennis media.

On 28 December, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "elevate women's tennis to a greater prominence".

Other WTA Award Honorees

• Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, received the award after taking a extended hiatus after the arrival of her first child and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season.
• Newcomer of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko received the award after beginning the season positioned beyond the world's top 300 and climbing to world number 18.
• Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after capturing their second career Grand Slam title together.
• Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after advancing to five championship matches.

Recently, Carlos Alcaraz won three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as the fan favorite for a third time.
